Good morning and welcome to this week's IPO watch. It's a quiet mid-August stretch, which is typical as the market winds down toward Labor Day. The only sizable traditional IPO on the calendar is Lyntris. Let's talk about Lyntris.

Lyntris supplies connectivity solutions for military customers, including the U.S. Department of Defense and allies. Its work spans sensor architecture, sensor hardware, and data platforms used in missile defense, maritime domain awareness, and space ISR and communications.

The company was put together earlier this year by Trive Capital through the combination of two portfolio businesses, and it reported roughly $451 million in revenue over the last twelve months.

A big chunk of the shares being sold are secondary, so most of the proceeds go to existing shareholders rather than the company itself. Under normal conditions, a company looking to pay off its existing shareholders is a red flag — but with this defense company, this might be different.

Defense and dual-use tech names have stayed in favor amid ongoing geopolitical tension, and Lyntris offers a pure-play way to get exposure to the "connected battlespace" theme without buying a traditional prime contractor. In today's market it could appeal to investors looking for industrial and defense exposure that still has growth characteristics.
What About the Other "IPOs"?

The other IPOs set for debut this week are companies called "Blank Checks" — development stage companies that have no established business plan. I am not a fan, so this is why they are not included.

"Have a great week."
